Criquet shirts review

Anyone who knows us knows that we love hunting small, hidden gems among the constant bombing of big names that seem to rule the golf apparel arena. With that said, we’ve recently had the pleasure of testing a few golf polos by Austin-based golf apparel company, Criquet.

Created back in 2010, Criquet was the brainchild of two buddies on the “travel to find the perfect shirt.” Since then, co-founders Billy Nachman and Hobson Brown have made it their mission to create the ideal golf polo. We were lucky enough to have the guys send us a couple of samples to try on our own.

First feeling: these are soft shirts and if we say soft we mean ‘cover your girlfriend’s shirts or you can’t see them again’ kind of soft stuff. The overall feeling is also just as intense to remind you that you have a shirt while being cool, respiratory and relatively unrestrictive at the same time.

We tried to suit the Criquet poloes well on the shoulders but a slim, tailored cut, particularly at midpoint, would have been preferable. The shirts we’ve tried is a size medium, well-fitted but still very loose with a construction of 5′′ 10′′ 170 lb. The shirt long enough to keep tucked in when you are out is one thing we really love.

As the label says, the poles we tested were made entirely of 100 % organic cotton. Yes, the label also indicates that it’s made in China, but nothing about the Criquet Polo feels cheap. Robust necklace stays are also a welcome addition, keeping the necklace crisp and eliminating the pesky droopiness that we tend to see after a long ,

Compared to your traditional, off-rack polo shirts, the Criquet selection isn’t cheap (a short sleeve polo will run you around $75.00), but there’s also nothing about those shirts that made us feel like we were “overpaying” for what we received. As mentioned earlier, the sturdy construction, the original styling and the quality of the material are all priced.

For some, eco-friendly is just a catch-phrase intended to justify a few extra bucks on the price tag, so it’s refreshing when a company actually takes the real “green” concept to heart. We were both pleased and impressed by the simple, minimalist and eco-friendly packaging in which our shirts arrived. No frills, no extra packaging,

just a simple, 100 % recyclable bag made of recycled paper using water-based inks. Good to you, Criquet!
The traditional and vintage-inspired structure contrasts perfectly with the “no rules” ideology of design.

Think of it as if your grandfather’s polo had quit his job and had been packed all over the country to find purpose, only to re-emerge a more enlightened and sexy version of himself. Is that too much to say about a shirt, huh? Well, that makes sense to us.
